Join Neil Zimmerman, Seattle Audubon Outreach Chair and Master Birder, to learn how to attract and care for birds in your yard through plant selection, gardening practices and use of water features. Power Point photos, many from Neil’s yard, will be used to illustrate the different ideas. Gardening and birding are a natural fit.

Come see us at the NW Flower and Garden Show this year in booth 2404!

Our dedicated Flower and Garden Show committee put up our booth and placed 240 pots of Selaginella kraussiana ‘Brownii’ from T&L Nursery (see details from our 2010 booth), and Primula ‘Zebra’ into our vertical garden, and potted up Hellebore ‘Snow Fever’, Prosanthera, and others.

About the speaker:

Jennifer Carlson is an illustrator and a landscape designer.  She has degrees in both art and in landscape architecture. Since the 1970’s she has planned and implemented many organic gardens in the Pacific Northwest.  She has lived and studied sustainable gardening practices while residing outside the U.S., in Nepal, Yugoslavia, and Germany.  Jennifer is now based in Seattle, where she teaches classes in low-maintenance plant selection, sustainable landscape design, and keeping a small flock of hens.  She organizes and leads garden tours of her family’s demonstration garden and writes about organic garden design and seasonal activities and crafts for Farmer’s Almanac TV. Her garden has been featured in local and national magazines, several books and in a PBS program for public TV.
